Further to this, Chime participated in six categories, the most of any of the 400 choirs (18,000 choristers) participating, and we earned two bronze and four silver diplomas - a tremendous achievement at such a prestigious world event. Additional activities included a day cruise on the Danube, and being accommodated at a 500+ year old hotel in the heart of the old city precinct of Linz.

1993
Switzerland
From the connections formed on our tour of Japan, Chime was invited by ABBE (Angelo Bearpark Brass Ensemble) to Switzerland. We stayed in the lovely town of Crans-Montana. Our performances and sightseeing saw us travel to a castle in Gruyere, the base of the Matterhorn in Zermatt, the hot springs at Leukerbad, Lausanne and the Bon Pere William distillery in Vetroz, Valais where we sampled local delicacies such as raclette and fondue. We also performed in local schools and at the beautiful St George stone church in Crans-Montana.
1991
Japan
5th International Youth Musicale, Shizuoka, Japan
Chime's founder had a long standing association with Japan. This saw the choir travel to Shizuoka to be the vocal contribution to the international youth music festival which was primarily for bands. We performed for Royalty and got to experience the culture including Green Tea Ceremonies and Japanese baths. Many friendships were formed through this experience, most closely with ABBE - a brass ensemble from Switzerland.
1989
Hong Kong
This was the choir's first international adventure at the invitation of the Hong Kong Children's Choir. It saw the choir perform in places such as Ocean Park and local schools. It was also our first experience of a foreign culture. We also got to explore places such as the Tiger Balm Gardens, Stanley Market, Macau and the many tailors Hong Kong is famous for.
