Past Tours

Previous Tours

CHIME has a proud history of international tours. When one tour finishes we are already planning the next trip. Our tours seek a blend of achieving an international standard in performance, experiencing the local culture and providing a relaxed, friendly, group atmosphere.

2008

Thirty two members participated in our Italian Tour in July 2008. The Montecatini Festival was a great success and the coach tour through Italy was some magnificent sights. This was particularly special with CHIME contributing $30,000 in direct support of participating students.

2004

3rd Choir Olympics, 2004, Bremen, Germany. Following on from our success at the 1st Choir Olympics (and being aware of the work load involved) the Institute participated in three categories. Once again we excelled, returning with three silver diplomas. Additional activities included day trips to regional centres and local items of interest.

2000

1st Choir Olympics, Linz, Austria, July 2000. The Institute was Australia’s sole representative at the 1st Choir Olympics. To view this from a different perspective: the Australian flag was flying at the opening and closing ceremonies only because of our presence! Further to this, the Institute participated in six categories, the most of any of the 400 choirs (18,000 choristers) participating, and we earned two bronze and four silver diplomas. A tremendous achievement at such a prestigious world event. Additional activities included a day cruise on the Danube, and being accomodated at a 500+ year old hotel in the heart of the old city precinct of Linz.

1997

Calgary Stampede, Alberta, Canada, July 1997. The choir was invited to perform at the opening ceremony for the World Band Competition being hosted by Calgary. Performances were more casual, occuring at Lake Louise, Banff Grand Hotel, and the Tyroll Automotive Museum. Additional activities included visiting the world's largest shopping centre at West Edmonton, the North American Palaeontology Museum and the Colombia Icefields.

1995

International Youth Musicale, Shizuoka, Japan.

1993

Switzerland Tour.

1991

Japanese Tour.

1989

Hong Kong Tour.
